What a poster actually costs — and why the cheap ones cost more

A poster is a salesperson you leave on a wall. You want it working for months, not one night.

When someone asks the price of a poster, they usually mean the price of the paper. That is the smallest number in the room.

A poster is a piece of design that goes up on a wall and talks to strangers while you sleep. A quote for E150 of printing stuck behind artwork nobody looks at is not cheap. It is the most expensive thing you will buy this month, because it bought you nothing.

The three costs nobody adds up

The design. This is where the poster is won or lost. Can a person read your event, your offer and your name from three metres away, in two seconds, in bad light? Good design answers yes. Bad design is a wall of small text and a photo nobody can see.

The print. Paper, size and quantity. Real, but rarely the difference between success and failure.

The months it works. This is the one people miss. A poster that stays up for three months and brings people in is doing the work of a hundred social posts. A poster that is unreadable is doing the work of a painted wall.

What cheap actually looks like

None of those are print problems. They are design problems, and they are the ones that cost you customers.

What to spend on

Spend on the things people see in two seconds: your name, the offer and the action. Spend on a face or a product shot that is sharp. Spend on contrast, so it reads across a room and on a phone photo someone takes to share.

Then print it properly, at a size that suits where it will hang, and put it where your customers actually walk.

The honest version

We do posters from E350. The price depends on the work, the size and the quantity, and we quote before we start. What we will not do is sell you paper with weak artwork on it. That is not a bargain. It is a bill.

If a poster is coming to a wall near you, send us the event. The first draft is the fastest way to see the difference.
